YOUTH BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU CLASS

CLASS TIMES:

Ages 8+:

Tuesdays & Thursdays

5:10 - 6:10pm

A great way to get youth involved in a practical martial art and physical activity that trains them both physically and mentally.   In a fun and safe environment, children will learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Self Defense techniques.

This class promotes a healthy self-confidence, positive attitudes, discipline, respect, problem-solving, and many other beneficial developmental qualities such as balance, coordination, focus, and self-control.  With these teachings, youth learn valuable life skills while building friendships - and of course - having fun!

About the Coach:

Professor Diana ("Professor" meaning "Teacher" in Brazilian Portuguese) has been in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community for over 20 years. Over this time, Diana has taken part in the growth of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Canada and is one of the first female pioneers of BJJ in Western Canada.  For the majority of her jiu jitsu career, she has been the sole female in her academy training mainly with men. While this experience set her foundation, it also gave her drive to pave a way for women and girls.  She believes in BJJ for everyone - boys, girls, men, and women!

Diana also routinely volunteers her time to teach at community events and collaborates with many non-profits and charities in YYC.  When she is not running these events, she is regularly teaching at Satori.  She is an advocate in the trauma community, passionately advocates for safe, healthy, and empowering health practices, represents women in a very male-dominated sport, and is a proud mother to 2 beautiful boys. Diana has also competed and successfully won many local and international BJJ competitions. She is passionate about building resilient communities and keeps it her mission to foster this sense of community within each class she teaches.
